A matrix type organization is a combination of functional organization and project-type organization. Although the matrix type organization focuses on the project and the customer requirements but it also considers the functional expertise needed. Effective utilization of resources can take place in matrix type organizations as the technical staff of different functions provides technical expertise to the projects as well in addition to their functions. Employees of different functions can work on projects full-time or part-time.
