Leadership is an important aspect of a project manager's behavior. A project manager must possess excellent leadership skills to motivate the team members to perform their jobs. A new concept of leadership has been developed by Hersey and Blanchard, which is called life cycle leadership model. This model indicates that a project manager must change the leadership style through different stages of a project life cycle. This is due to the fact that team members act differently at different stages. The model divides the life cycle into four quadrants. In the first quadrant, the team members enter the project. They are confused, assigned tasks but have less interaction with the project manager.
