Enthalpy change when 1 mole of electrons is added to 1 mole of gaseous atoms to form 1 mole of gaseous 1- ions under standard conditions.

Electron Affinity Notes:
The amount of energy absorbed in the process in which an electron is added to a neutral isolated gaseous atom to form a gaseous ion is called electron affinity. If energy is released, then electron affinity has a negative value. We can say that electron affinity is the energy change that takes place as a result of addition or deletion of an electron from a neutrally charged atom or molecule. It is measured in electron volts. The molar enthalpy change is also used for electron affinity.
