Reaction in which a water molecule is removed from a molecule is called dehydration.

Dehydration Notes:
Dehydration can be defined as a chemical reaction between two compounds where one of the products is water. We can say that it is the removal of water. For this reaction, we need the presence of agents that help in the process. Concentrated phosphoric acid, concentrated sulphuric acid, hot ceramic and hot aluminium oxide are the chemicals that are used as dehydrating agents. There are many dehydration reactions involved in organic chemistry for example dehydration of alcohols or sugars etc.
