Cell Membrane Definition:
A membrane surrounding each cell which controls the entry and exit of particular biological molecules and ions is called cell membrane.

Cell Membrane Notes:
A cell membrane can be defined as a semi permeable membrane. It allows some substances to pass through it and does not allow others. Cell membrane surrounds the cytoplasm of living cells, physically separating the intracellular components from the extracellular environment. It is also called cytoplasmic membrane. All living cells possess a cell membrane. It protects and maintains the internal environment of a cell. It also plays a role in organizing the cell. Cell membranes are composed primarily of phospholipids and proteins and are typically described as phospholipid bi-layers.
