Cofactor Notes:
A cofactor is said to be a component of an enzyme other than protein. The cofactor is an essential component for the performance of an enzyme. In the absence of a cofactor, the enzyme loses its catalytic activity. The purpose of a cofactor is to help the proteins of an enzyme. We can say that an enzyme is nothing without the presence of a cofactor. It is a helper molecule that assists in biochemical transformations. Cofactor is an important term in biochemistry.
