Boiling Point Definition:
Temperature at which the vapour pressure is equal to the atmospheric pressure is called boiling point.

Boiling Point Notes:
When the vapour pressure of a liquid becomes equal to its atmospheric pressure, the temperature is called boiling point. This can be understood by considering a closed vessel that contains a liquid. Some of the molecules at the surface of the liquid have enough kinetic energy to escape into the atmosphere. These molecules exert a pressure on the walls of the closed container. The vapour pressure is the pressure exerted when the molecules evaporate (leave the surface) at the same rate as they condense (return to the surface). There comes a point when this vapour pressure is equal to the pressure exerted by the atmosphere on the container which is called external or atmospheric pressure. At this point, the liquid starts boiling. Bubbles of vapour are formed on the surface of the liquid
