Carbocation Definition:
An alkyl group carrying a single positive charge on one of its carbon atoms is called carbocation.

Carbocation Notes:
When an ion possesses a single positively charged carbon atom, it is said to be a carbocation. Examples of carbocation include CH3+, methanium CH5+, and ethanium C2H7+ . There are cases when a carbocation possesses more than one positive charge as well. Carbocation has great importance in organic chemistry. They are used in different chemical reaction as transition state of reaction which is an intermediate stage before reaching final product. Carbocation rearrangements are extremely common in organic chemistry reactions and are defined as the movement of a carbocation from an unstable state to a more stable state through the use of various structural "shifts" within the molecule.
