Disproportionation Notes:
Disproportionation can be defined as an oxidation-reduction reaction in which a compound of intermediate oxidation state converts to two different compounds. These different compounds are such that one is of higher oxidation state and the other one is of lower oxidation state. Disproportionation is also called dismutation. Examples include, Bromine fluoride which undergoes disproportionation reaction to form bromine trifluoride.
