Electrochemical Cell Notes:
An electrochemical cell is a device. This device is capable of either generating electrical energy from chemical reactions or using electrical energy to cause chemical reactions. This cell operates on the principle of oxidation-reduction reaction. The electrochemical cells which generate an electric current are called voltaic cells or galvanic cells. On the other hand those that generate chemical reactions, are called electrolytic cells. An electrochemical cell consists of an electrolyte, a salt bridge and electrodes.
