Time taken for the amount (or concentration) of the limiting reactant in a reaction to decrease to half value is called half-life.

Half-life can be described as a set amount of time in which half of a reactant will be consumed in the reaction. We have a formula for half life according to which in a first-order reaction the half-life of the reactant is ln(2)/ λ, where λ is the reaction rate constant.
