Transcription Definition:
Transcription is the synthesis of RNA using information in the DNA.
Campbell Biology by J.B. Reece, L.A. Urry, M.L. Cain, S.A. Wasserman, P.V. Minorsky, R.B. Jackson
Transcription Notes:
Transcription is the first step in gene expression and involves transcribing a gene's DNA sequence to make an mRNA molecule. Transcription is performed by enzymes called RNA polymerases, which link nucleotides to form an RNA strand while using a DNA strand as a template. This information is then translated in to proteins that are synthesized in the ribosomes.
