Cytotoxic T cells Definition:
In the cell-mediated immune response, cytotoxic T cells use toxic proteins to kill cells infected by viruses or other intracellular pathogens before pathogens fully mature.

Cytotoxic T cells Notes:
A cytotoxic T cell is also known as T lymphocyte or CTL etc. This cell is a T lymphocyte which is a type of white blood cell that kills cancer cells or cells that are infected with pathogens and specially with viruses, or cells that are damaged in other ways. Most of these cytotoxic T cells express T-cell receptors (TCRs) on their surface that can recognize a specific antigen therefore the response thy generate is specific to one type of antigen only.
