Signal recognition particle (SRP) Notes:
The signal recognition particle is an abundant, cytosolic, universally conserved ribonucleoprotein that recognizes and targets specific proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum in eukaryotes and the plasma membrane in prokaryotes. A protein-RNA complex called a signal-recognition particle (SRP) is responsible for recognizing the signal peptide as it emerges from the ribosome.
