Missense mutations Notes:

Missense mutation refers to a change in one amino acid in a protein, arising from a point mutation in a single nucleotide. Missense mutation is a type of nonsynonymous substitution in a DNA sequence. This can have deleterious effects especially if the mis-coded nucleotide happens to be a part of stop codon which can stop the synthesis of a protein prematurely leading to a non sense protein that cant function or a protein much smaller in size than the real one.
