Chromosome Definitions:
A nuclear structure on which most of a eucaryotic cell?s genetic information (DNA) is carried, in association with specialized proteins called histones.
Essential Microbiology by Stuart Hogg
Tightly coiled bodies in cells that are the primary sites of genes.

Chromosome Notes:
A chromosome is a DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) molecule. It carries part of or all the genetic material (i.e., genome) of an organism. In most of the eukaryotic chromosomes, there are packaging proteins, which in association with chaperone proteins condense the DNA molecule into chromosomes, to prevent the DNA from tangling. During metaphase of cell division, the chromosomes are easily visible under a microscope. They are a two-arm structure (almost X-shaped), comprising of two sister chromatids, joined together at the centromere.
