Central Dogma of Biology Definition:

  • Proposal that information (= genetic) flow in organisms is in one direction only, from DNA to RNA to protein.

    Essential Microbiology by Stuart Hogg

Central Dogma of Biology Notes:

The central dogma of molecular biology describes the two-step process, by which the information stored in the genes flows into proteins, i.e., transcription and translation. The sequence of events is DNA → RNA → protein. Transcription means the synthesis of an RNA copy of a DNA segment and translation refers to the process of creating proteins from the mRNA template.
