Egg Notes:

The egg is a structure that contains the zygote in which an embryo develops until it can survive on its own after which the egg would hatch. An egg forms from fertilization of an egg cell by a male gamete. In placental mammals, the egg doesnot have a yolk but develops an umbilical cord to provide nutrients to the zygote. The fetus completes the development while inside the uterus while receiving nutrients from the mother. Eggs laid by many different species including birds have been eaten by humans as a source of protein.
