Acrosome Notes:
The acrosome is an organelle that develops over the frontal part of the sperm of many animals including humans. It is a cap-like structure and it is basicaly derived from the Golgi apparatus. The acrosome contains digestive enzymes that include hyaluronidase and others. These enzymes break down the outer membrane of the ovum, and allow the haploid nucleus in the sperm cell to join with the haploid nucleus in the ovum and make a fetilised zygote.
