Cestode Notes:
Cestodes can cause infections both in adult and larval stages. Infections caused by the adult tapeworms are usually well tolerated or asymptomatic. They are found in the small intestine and may cause dyspepsia, anorexia, pain, abdominal stress, nausea, diarrhea or even increased appetite. Whereas larval tapeworms are found in the extra intestinal tissues and cause systematic infections with clinical effects depending upon the number, size and location of cysts.
