Precision Notes:

While controlling quality, the quality characteristics are measured using a measurement system e.g. gauge, instrument etc. A measurement system must be capable enough to measure the values precisely. Precision is defined as the closeness of two or more measurements form each other. Precision is independent of accuracy and has a different method of calculation. The data measured is sorted to determine highest and lowest values. Then the lowest value is subtracted for the highest value which gives the answer of precision. For example, if the diameter of a rod is measured five times and each time the system gets 4 cm value, it means the measurement is precise.
