Cusum Chart Notes:
Control charts are the most basic tools of statistical process control for monitoring processes in order to control them by reducing variability. Different types of control charts can be used in quality improvement. One of them is cumulative sum control chart, typically called Cusum control chart. Cusum control charts are used when there is a very small shift in the process mean. This small shift cannot be captured by other types of control charts. The data points that are plotted on Cusum charts are calculated as the cumulative sum of the deviations of all sample values from target value. Cusums can be represented in two ways; tabular and V-mask form. Cusums are generally not considered as control charts because they do not have control limits.
