Catchball is an approach of lean strategy where the ideas regarding strategies are circulated at all levels of the organization for refinement. Catchball process can also be used in quality improvement process. It is a non-competitive process where all the people at different hierarchical level provide the ideas regarding translation of strategies into the objectives. Catchball is a part of Hoshin Kanri deployment process. According to it, the quality system should be aligned with the organization's strategies. The company's goals and objectives are aligned with the tasks performed by the people of the organization in order to incorporate quality at strategic level.
