Reward Power Definition:
Reward power is defined as the ability to gain support because project personnel perceive the project manager as capable of directly or indirectly dispensing valued organizational rewards.

Reward Power Notes:
Out of all the authorities granted to the project manager, the major one is to command the project team members during the project whenever needed. Usually project managers possess a great deal of authority but no power over his or her team. This results in the use of interpersonal influences by the project manager so that the project team members accept him and his decisions. One of the interpersonal influence is called reward power. Reward power refers to the ability of a project manager to influence the team members regarding issuing commands and orders as the team members considers him to be the one, who is responsible to reward them in any way. The rewards can be bonus, salary, appraisals etc. Due to the reward power, project manager can motivate the team members to perform well.
