Pre-RFP/proposal efforts are crucial to establishing the foundation for eventually winning a contract from the customer to perform the project.

Pre RFP Notes:
Some contractors develop strong relationships with the potential customers in order to submit proposal before a request for proposal is initiated. This situation is called pre-RFP or proposal marketing. Some contractors' sources of revenue are purely dependent on the projects. Therefore it is necessary for them to win contracts. But these contractors cannot wait for a request for proposal. They work closely with the potential customers (can be past and current customers) to easily enter the bidding process. Contractors can also discuss potential ideas of projects with the customers. This increases their chances of selection. Pre-RFP efforts are considered as a marketing activity from the side of the contractor.
