Network Planning Notes:
In the planning phase of a project, the activities or tasks involved in the successful completion of the project are listed, planned, scheduled, and properly controlled. Moreover, the interrelationship of the activities must also be established. Traditionally, Graphical Evaluation and Review Technique (GERT) and precedence diagramming method (PDM) were used for network planning. Many new techniques have been introduced for network planning. Some of them are Critical Path Method (CPM), Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT), Gantt chart etc. In general, network planning aides in showing the dependencies of the activities by displaying them graphically in a diagram. Some computer softwares can also be used to do network planning e.g. MS Project.
