Successful Project Management by Jack Gido and James P. Clements

  2. Event is described as either the starting or ending point for either one or several activities.

Project Management: A Systems Approach to Planning, Scheduling, and Controlling by Harold Kerzner?

Event Notes:

The term event is used in the activity on arrow format of the network diagram. In this format, a circles are used to represent events. The activities arrows either go into the event circle or come out of it. An event shows the start and finish of each activity. Unlike activity in a box format where each activity is assigned a unique number, each event is assigned a unique number in the activity on arrow format. For example, if a car is being washed, activity 'wash the car' is linked with two events 1 and 2 and activity 'dry the car' is linked with events 2 and 3. The event 2 acts as the end of 'wash the car' and start of 'dry the car'.
