When people with different backgrounds, skill sets and demographics work together, it is impossible to not having conflicts between them. A conflict is basically a disagreement between two or more people. Generally, it is the responsibility of the project manager to handle and resolve conflicts, however, team members can also be involved in this process. Conflicts should be handled properly to encourage team building. If the conflicts are not handled properly, they can result in low self-esteem, broken unity and reduced trust among the team members. Different approaches to handle conflict can be used which include avoiding/withdrawing, competing/forcing, accommodating/smoothing, compromising, and collaborating/confronting/problem-solving approaches.
