Concurrent Engineering Notes:
The traditional way of doing work was to perform the tasks in series i.e. the next step in the process starts when the previous step is completed. However, there are many situations in which the tasks can be performed simultaneously. Keeping this in mind, the way of doing work simultaneously or in parallel is called concurrent engineering. Concurrent engineering is also called simultaneous engineering. The traditional concept has a severe disadvantage of increased rework cost. It means that when the product moves through different stages and at a later stage, it is revealed that the product has some issues whose origin is a previous stage, rework must be done. But the concurrent engineering enables to identify the issue earlier in the process as all the product development stages are integrated and work simultaneously.
