Enzyme Definition:

Enzyme Notes:

Enzyme can be defined as a macromolecular biological catalyst that speeds up a chemical reaction. The metabolic process in the cell requires enzyme catalysis for accelerating the reactions for sustaining life. The study of enzymes is called enzymology. Most enzymes are proteins and some are catalytic RNA molecules. Examples of enzymes are Amylase, Trypsin, Lipase. These are called digestive enzymes as they help in speeding up the chemical reactions involved in digestion. Enzymes increase the reaction rate by lowering its activation energy. Some enzymes can increase the speed of reaction million times.
