In blood plasma, these are red blood cell, white blood cell and platelet. Red blood cells that are erythrocytes are found in large amount, containing 5 to 5.5 million of RBCs in males while in females, they contain 4 to 4.5 million RBCs. Red blood cells are biconcave, consists of an elastic cell membrane. It is estimated that an average life span of red blood cell is almost 120 days, after that, these cells breaks down in liver and spleen by phagocytosis. White blood cells also known as leukocytes, are colorless, having no pigments, considered as primary agents in body's defence system. While platelets are not regarded as cells, having no nuclues nor pigments but are fragments of large cells of bone marrow.
