Artemisinin is a drug that is used against malaria (caused by Plasmodium falciparum) and helps to reduce parasitemia in malaria-endemic areas. Tu Youyou discovered artemisinin in 1972 and was awarded with half Nobel Prize in 2015 for her discovery in Medicine.
