Acid Rain Definition:
Sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides also dissolve in rainwater. They form a more acidic solution, called acid rain.
Cambridge IGSCE Biology by Mary Jones, Geoff Jones
Acid Rain Notes:
Acid rain is resulted from the diffusion of Sulphur dioxide in rainwater. The factors involves in causing acid rain are; burning fuel in vehicle and high temperature that accumulate nitrogen in air that combines with oxygen to make nitrogen oxide. Similarly, sulfur dioxide is also considered as unpleasant gas, causing problem in breathing. Rain water is normally slightly acidic, having PH below 7, but sulfur dioxide makes it more acidic solution that damages plants, hurt leaves and washes out calcium, magnesium and aluminum.
