Synapsis Notes:

Synapsis is the pairing of two homologous chromosomes that occurs during meiosis. During synapsis, a possible chromosomal crossover also occurs. Synapsis takes place during prophase I of meiosis. It allows matching-up of homologous pairs prior to their segregation so that the similar chromosomes align together before division so each daughter cell gets the same copy of chromosome.
