Chemotherapeutic Agents (also known as antineoplastic agents), are the compounds used to inhibit the proliferation of rapidly multiplying cells, normally in the context of malignancy. These agents include antimetabolites, mitotic inhibitors, alkylating agents and topoisomerase inhibitors. These are classified according to their mechanism of action.
