Law of segregation, states that the two alleles for a heritable character segregate (separate from each other) during gamete formation and end up in different gametes.

Law of segregation Notes:
Law of segregation states that during gamete formation, the alleles for each gene segregate from each other so that each gamete carries only one allele for each gene. If this wouldn't happen, the offspring would have two sets of each allele which would cause severe abnormalities in the resulting children.
