Managing Quality: Integrating the Supply Chain by S. Thomas Foster
Information System Notes:
To adopt an integrative approach within an organization, there must be a way to connect the employees belonging to different functions or departments. The integrative approach not only connects different functions but also connects the suppliers and customers to the organization. In addition, the suppliers and customers should be connected to each other as well. For example, a firm producing electronic devices has a technical support system for customers. This support system is basically based on the concept of information system. The information must be designed well and should provide high speed of information transfer in order to have a happy customer. An effective and efficient information system provides the basis for improved customer service and product quality.
