Leadership is important in all the aspects of life. A leader is able to motivate and encourage his or her followers and guide them towards the right path. In project management, a project manager is considered as the leader of the project team. This means that a project manager must possess the leadership skills in order to influence his or her team to perform their assigned tasks efficiently and contribute towards the project's success. A leader can adopt many different types of leadership styles. One of them is transactional leadership. The main focus of transactional leadership is to develop a reward and penalty system. The transactional leadership considers the accomplishment of goals very important and the leader tend to reward the members who successfully achieve the set goals.
