Leadership is important in all the aspects of life. A leader is able to motivate and encourage his or her followers and guide them towards the right path. In project management, a project manager is considered as the leader of the project team. This means that a project manager must possess the leadership skills in order to influence his or her team to perform their assigned tasks efficiently and contribute towards the project's success. A leader can adopt many different types of leadership styles. One of them is transactional leadership. The main focus of transactional leadership is to develop a reward and penalty system. The transactional leadership considers the accomplishment of goals very important and the leader tend to reward the members who successfully achieve the set goals. Feedback is also a necessary part of transactional leadership.
