Phase Gate Notes:
To ease the project management process, a project may be divided into different stages or phases. After each phase is completed, the project manager reviews the work and decide either to move forward with the project or not. These decision points in a project are called phase gates. Phase gates are placed at the end of each project phase. The work/performance during the previous phase is monitored at the phase gate and compared with the project business documents. Based on the comparisons, decisions are made regarding continuing to the next phase, continuing to next phase with changes, ending the project, and repeat the phase etc. Phase gate is also called phase review, stage gate, kill point, phase entrance or exit.
