Matrix Diagram Notes:
As the name indicates, matrix diagrams involve rows and columns like a matrix and tend to identify the impact of different factors on each other that are listed in rows and columns of the matrix diagram. Matrix diagrams are very easy and understandable and can be two, three or four dimensional. Based on this, a project manager can use different shapes of a matrix diagram e.g. L, T, X, Y, and C. To from a matrix diagram, the quality metrics that are to be considered are selected. After that, the best type of the matrix diagram is chosen based on the situation and the selected metrics. Different symbols are used in the matrix diagram to show the impact. These symbols refer to different scores e.g. high (9), medium (3) and low (1). These symbols are placed in the matrix diagram appropriately. The scores for each quality metric is added in order to make the decision.
