Expert judgment is defined as judgment provided based upon expertise in an application area, Knowledge Area, discipline, industry, etc., as appropriate for the activity being performed.

Expert Judgment Notes:
Usually, an expert's opinion is required for a specific area of knowledge. The judgment provided by a person based on his expertise in that area is called expert judgment. An expert can be an individual with special training, skills, knowledge or education in an area or field (knowledge area, product area, or industry) to which the judged activity is related. Expert Judgment is provided according to a pre-defined criteria. Decision can be made based on expert judgment. The topics/areas/fields which can be considered for expert judgment are strategy of the organization, benefits management, technical knowledge, schedule and budget estimates, and risk identification.
