After the scope of the project is defined, it is necessary to divide the overall statement of work into the list of activities that are to be completed to finish the project. An activity list is developed based on the work breakdown structure. Each activity has some attributes. Activity attributes give the description of each activity and identify other aspects associated with it. However, the aspects of each activity may change over the course of the project. In the initial phases of the project, an activity is described by a unique code/ID or identifier. With time, some more attributes are added. These include activity durations, relation of the activity with other activities (successor and predecessor), slack, expected completion time/date, required resources to perform the activity, constraints etc. Activity attributes can also be used in schedule development and its related reports.
