An equation relating the volume of a gas to the temperature, pressure and number of moles of gas is called ideal gas equation.

Ideal Gas Equation Notes:
The ideal gas equation is an equation that shows the relation between volume of a gas, temperature, pressure and number of moles of gas. It is written as PV = nRT. In this equation P is the pressure of gas in the system, V is the volume of gas, n is the number of moles of gas, R is the universal gas constant and T is the temperature of the system. Another thing to remember is that each side in the equation represents the total energy in the gas system. This equation plays an important role in dealing with problems related to thermochemistry. Ideal gas equation is also called general gas equation.
