Gene Notes:
The basic physical and functional unit of heredity is called gene. Genes are made up of DNA. Many genes behave as instructions to make protein molecules. However, many genes do not provide the code for proteins. Genes in humans have variations in size. These are from a few hundred DNA bases to more than 2 million bases. Every person possesses two copies of each gene, one inherited from each parent.
