Nucleosome Definition:
Each ''bead'' of DNA and histones on a chromatin string is called a nucleosome.

Nucleosome Notes:
A nucleosome is a basic unit of DNA packaging in eukaryotes, consisting of a segment of DNA wound in sequence around eight histone protein cores. This structure is often compared to thread wrapped around a spool or a bead on a string. Several of these 'beads' link together to form a structure called the chromatin. All these structures help the DNA to be packed neatly in a small space.
