Organ Notes:
A recognizable structure of the body that has a particular function is called an organ. An example of an organ is heart. It is made up of different types of tissues but they all work together as an organ to pump blood in the body. Another example are the lungs. Lungs function as an organ to get the oxygen from the air and incorporate it in the blood so oxygen can be supplied to all the cells of the body for respiration.
Organ Notes:
Organ, in biology, a group of tissues in a living organism that have been adapted to perform a specific function. In higher animals, organs are grouped into organ systems; e.g., the esophagus, stomach, and liver are organs of the digestive system. In the more advanced animals, there are usually 10 organ systems. The heart is an example of a specialized organ.
