Cyanophycin Notes:
Cyanophycin is a polypeptide-like, non-protein storage material that is rich in nitrogen, found in heterotrophic bacteria and cyanobacteria. It is often abbreviated as CGP. Chemically it is non ribosomally produced amino acid polymer made up aspartic acid back bone and arginine side groups. It was first detected in 1887 by the Italian botanist Antonino Borzi.
