Basidiospore Notes:
Basidiospores are reproductive spores that are produced by basidiomycetes fungi. These fungi are a grouping, which includes shelf fungi, smuts, rusts and mushrooms. These reproductive spores consist of one nucleus (haploid) which is the product of meiosis and basidia (specialized fungal cells) produce them.
