Common set of genes found in all genomes in a species or other taxon.

Core Genome Notes:
The core genome is the set of those genes that are common in all strains of one bacterial species. For example, the eight strains of S. agalactiae, it was found that their majority of the genes in the core genome belong to the housekeeping genes groups such as genes involved in making cell envelope, binding and transport proteins and for regulatory functions.
