Mesoderm Definition:
All bilaterally symmetrical animals have a third germ layer, called the mesoderm, which fills much of the space between the ectoderm and endoderm.

In all bilaterian or bilaterally symmetrical animals, the mesoderm is one of the three primary germ layers in the very early embryo. The mesoderm forms mesenchyme, mesothelium, non-epithelial blood cells and coelomocytes. Mesothelium lines coeloms. Mesoderm forms the muscles, parts of gonads and mysentries.
